MK Electric publishes 47th edition digitally and online

MK Electric has just published the 47th edition of its catalogue in a CD ROM specification version, so displaying one of the largest quality ranges of electrical product and accessories available on the market in a user-friendly electronic format. It is also provided online as a download from www.mkelectric.co.uk.

The Specification Guide CD ROM and download not only covers an extraordinary 5300 products, but also adds technical information suitable for specifiers and consultants. They provide comprehensive and fully-illustrated details on the company’s extensive offer – from wiring devices to circuit protection and cable management. They also includes range highlights for MK’s Ackermann and Friedland sister businesses.

Among the highlights are Echo, the company’s wireless, batteryless, self-powered switch technology, and Astral, a versatile and intelligent MESH network system that incorporates Zensys RF communication technology. The system offers significant benefits that will appeal to the installer, specifier and developer depending on requirements.

Astral devices – the initial range comprising controllers, dimmers and switches – have the capability to control lighting in one particular room, but also lighting throughout the entire property. Each device is effectively a transceiver – both receiving and transmitting RF signals.

Signals are detected by all other astral devices within range, or any other device with Z-Wave™ as its inherent RF “language” and when programmed to do so, will control the lighting connected to them; or they will forward the signal to the desired destination device via the most effective and efficient route.

The CD and download also features MK’s comprehensive range of sensors which can provide energy savings of up to 80% in corridors and toilets and 30% in open plan offices. A fast-fit clamp system makes the sensors easy to install or remove and the sensors are programmed via infra-red. The sensors use PIR, microwave or ultrasonic detection which will work to a range of up to 60m2.

The company uses the data to explicitly and comprehensively state its commitment to sustainability – not least its claim to have the ‘greenest’ cable management products in the industry. The collateral also provides notes on safety and reliability, design and innovation, updates on changes to regulations and an overview of the MK, Ackermann and Friedland businesses.
