Around 5000sq m of sheet vinyl floorcoverings from commercial flooring specialist Polyflor Ltd have been installed at Europe’s largest wine bottling plant, opened earlier this year by international manufacturer and distributor Constellation Brands Inc in Avonmouth, Bristol.
Fletcher Architects (UK) Ltd of Manchester specified Forest FX timber effect sheet vinyl flooring in the canteen, low maintenance, polish-free Polyflor Classic Mystique PUR for plant corridors, walkways and changing rooms, with Polysafe Hydro safety flooring in toilets and showers and Polyflor Sport 67 in the plant gymnasium .
“The Polyflor products selected fully meet the stringent requirements laid down for the plant in terms of durability, technical performance and decorative appearance,” said Mark Lewis of Fletcher Architects.
Classic Mystique PUR provides a balanced choice of 16 calm tonal shades and features a high quality polyurethane reinforcement which, combined with a superior closed surface finish, facilitates a low cost, polish-free maintenance regime for the lifetime of the flooring, achieving savings of up to 48% compared with untreated vinyl flooring.
Specially developed for continually wet or barefoot areas, Polysafe Hydro features a special textured “pimple” emboss which is ideal for walk-in showers, indoor pool surrounds, changing rooms and hydrotherapy areas.
Polysafe Hydro offers an attractive range of eight light, aqueous colours available with a multi-chip or traditional decoration and is fully compliant with the slip resistance guidance set down by the HSE.
Hydro combines the use of coloured quartz, aluminium oxide and silicon carbide particles throughout the product thickness to facilitate sustained slip resistance for the guaranteed life of the product as well as conforming to the European standard for safety flooring, EN 13845 Barefoot.
Polyflor Classic Mystique PUR and Polysafe Hydro both achieve the highest possible BRE Global A+ environmental performance rating over a 60-year service life (Certificate No ENP336).
The Forest FX collection, specially developed by Polyflor in response to demand from specifiers and designers for a wood effect sheet vinyl flooring, provides a choice of 14 of the most widely specified wood colours and features a polyurethane reinforcement (PUR), which protects the floor during installation and handover and facilitates a polish-free maintenance regime.
Widely specified for a variety of sports halls, gymnasia and leisure centres, Polyflor Sport 67 – and heavier gauge Polyflor Sport 80 – both conform to EN14904, the European standard for sports flooring, and meet all Sport England requirements.
They provide the underfoot resilience and long life demanded by high traffic applications and are suitable for a wide range of sporting activities including football, tennis, netball and basketball. Both ranges also feature a polymer surface treatment for enhanced protection and easier on-going maintenance.
In common with all Polyflor sheet vinyl floorcoverings, all products can be welded at the seams and to coved skirtings to create continuous, impervious surfaces which offer no sanctuary to dirt and bacteria.
